FIREARM LAWS &REGULATIONS

INDIANA
CONCEALED CARRY

In Indiana, a license or permit is not required for the concealed carry of a handgun (Permitless Carry).

OPEN CARRY

Open carry is legal in the state of Indiana.
You must be 18 years old to carry a gun in the open.

MOTOR VEHICLE CARRY

You may transport a handgun in your car or vehicle without a permit (with exceptions).

NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT (NFA) FIREARMS

Indiana is an NFA friendly state.
NFA items are legal in Indiana so long as they are registered properly pursuant to the National Firearms Act.

HUNTING

Suppressors (silencers) are legal for deer hunting.
During appropriate hunting seasons the following firearms are legal:
Shotguns
Handguns
Rifles
Muzzleloading guns
Air guns

FIREARM TRANSFERS & SALES

In Indiana, you must be 18 years of age to buy a handgun or firearm.
There is no waiting period to buy a gun.
There is no permit required.
Firearms do not need to be registered.
There is no background check required for the transfer of firearms between private parties.
You must be 18 years of age to carry a handgun (with exceptions).

AMMUNITION REGULATIONS

There is no license requirement for ammo in Indiana.
There is no age requirement to buy or possess ammo.
Records of ammunition sales or transfers is not required.
Armor piercing handgun ammunition is prohibited.
